Zelus to provide a socio-technical solution for textile waste management in the city of Cascais, Portugal
Zelus is proud to announce that is awarded the Climaborough tender for addressing the challenge of the city of Cascais in Portugal, to promote sustainable consumption and help improve waste differentiation in households, thus increasing the quality of the waste collected from them and the performance of selective waste collection processes.
Zelus will develop a mobile application available both for citizens and also employees involved in the textile management process. Citizens will be encouraged to change their consumption habits and will be facilitated in their efforts to dispose responsibly of textiles they don’t need, while employees with different responsibilities (e.g.: collecting the waste, sorting it) will be facilitated to perform their tasks and track their activities.
Eventually citizens and the municipality will be able to view the textile flows in the city and will be empowered to take actions to minimize the waste and enable the preference of better alternatives such as the reuse, repair and resell of valuable products.
The project is planned to start at the beginning of November and we are looking forward to getting right on it!
